First sale from Outreach! 🙌🏾
Just wanted to share that I finally got my first deposit for 2 songs from an artist I connected with on IG from outreach. Its discounted since she has someone she already trusts for mixing, I'll just be handling production. Also looks like we will have a long standing working relationship since she likes my sound and has other demos she wants to build on with me. All the coaching I received along the way was super helpful! The framework definitely works just got to stick with it through all the no's.

My first session over Zoom
It was my first production session over Zoom ever. And everything worked. We were bouncing ideas back and forth. I added tracks, played instruments etc. I feared my MacBook would get up in flames but no, did a solid job :) The energy was great and productive. 3h of solid work done. And I was so ready for a break after that ^^ Rinse and repeat next week again. Thank you for giving me the idea of working that way @James this really felt like my workflow. Anyway. Win. Paid.   May 25Piggy backing on this - I am at my wits end on how to configure my RME ucx with Zoom and hifi stereo audio. Whenever I switch to hifi stereo my mic (hooked up on channel 1 of the RME) the audio from my mic is on the left side only.Yes I've done all the loopbacks and panning in totalmix but I simply cant figure it out. When in normal noise cancelling mode its centered - but switching to stereo causes my mic to move left. The audio from the DAW works fine in stereo.This is on mac by the way - the ... See more

  May 26@Emrah Hey, I remember having that problem but solved it somehow. But I have a different setup now.I run all my audio from the computer into a Rodecaster where I have my call only mic mixed in with all the other computer audio.I route the zoom audio out to the rodecaster directly so it does not affect my regular audio at all. Is this a must? No I don't think so but I had the hardware laying around and now I'm pretty happy after some trial and error.

  May 16@Angelo I just used it the way Kali/Donny/Aaron use it. Nothing special. We're still focussed on the instrumental. I had a vocal guide already.Zoom simply works and everybody knows it. That seems to be an advantage

Closed a deal with a past client of mine for a mixing and mastering gig at my updated rates for a 5 song EP! Stoked that he stuck with me through the increase since it was about double from the last EP that we worked on together.

Debut EP
Excited to share that I released my debut EP a few week ago. Half of the tracks on the project were brithed during my groundwork and portfolio builder sessions last year. I don’t think I would’ve had the courage to host a listening party and put as much weight into the release as I did if I hadn’t received the training I did from Aaron and the Dark Label team. Two new songs in the bag!
The first production client I landed through outreach is releasing our first song this month, and we just started working on a second song together! And I also landed a second production client for one song. All of this at my full rate (which is 6x higher to what I was charging before Dark Label) 🥹 Slowly but surely, we build!

EP Deal!
Hey gang! I saw some clips from a local punk show my buddy put on and asked him to connect me with one of the bands that piqued my interest. The band reached out to me after saying they were really interested in recording. First sale from outreach!
Hi, just wanted to share that I got my first sale that's 100% from outreach! It's a mix for a 4 song EP and I've charged more than I've ever done before and the client even thanked me for taking on the work. I contribute that to the whole framework of finding solutions for clients and not just "selling your services". First Album Project!
An artist I've worked with on a few singles in the past just submitted her first payment for an album project! I've only produced singles for anyone thus far, so I'm really excited to 1) have a lot more work than normal and 2) work on a collective body of work that will be presented together. If you have any tips or experience on how your work with EP/albums has been different than singles, and how you keep a larger project like that sounding cohesive but also not same-y, I'd love to hear it.

  @Destry Right on! Check out @Donny's comment below. He hit the nail on the head. I've worked with artists who look at albums as a cohesive theme and others who look at it just as a collection of singles. If it's the first one then we'd kind of sketch out all of the demos / basic tracking first. Then go back and build each one to ensure there is cohesion. If it's the 2nd then we would pretty much just go song at a time.

First client closed for an EP project!
After doing a good amount of outreach in starting to go through the business side of things, I’m thankful to say that the hard work paid off and got me to land my first client who’s going for an EP 🔥 I’m also truly thankful for @Daniel and @James who walked me through my first stages in getting things off the ground as well.

Appreciaton Post - Unexpected WINS!
I've been with Dark Label for a while now, and I'm so grateful for how it has changed my life in so many ways. Closed a Project @ Highest Rate Ever
My goal this year was to double my rates so that I don't have to spend so much time balancing chasing new projects while working on current ones. Doing that created a bottle neck for me where I was constantly pushing to get projects done but I needed new ones to hit my economic goals. Business and Personal Landmarks
Hit 2 huge landmarks over the weekend. First £4k month in Feb 18 months of sobriety Not to mention that I've been hitting over £3k consistently for 6 months now. For the first time in my career, I've felt stable and in control of the work side of things (and no doubt that's helped with the personal stuff too). Absolutely wouldn't have been possible without the support of DLM and the community on here. Excited about the journey ahead.

Recent Wins
I've booked several projects these past 2 weeks - and while I usually had no problems booking projects, I was able to book these at the price points that make more sense and are sustainable. I put out 2 youtube videos on my tiny channel of 2k subs - and kind of embarrassing to mention but they're both based on Suno.   One other thing - I did lose a few projects based on the clients budget - I am still in discussion with a couple of (non-suno) artists to see if we can make it work somehow. I've again witnessed how not trying to justify prices and instead focus on a more palatable deal (payment terms, added value etc) for the client is the best way forward.

First production sale!
I finally got my first production sale, with the full fee! And I absolutely LOVE the artist and the song we made. When we did the casual call, we vibed but she didn't have any songs ready to go, as she is about to release an album. I suggested we try a songwriting session, and sent her a couple of instrumentals that I created during the Groundworks program. Finally got my second paid client!
It’s been months since my I got my first deposit from the initial artist I began working with, and hundreds of outreaches later it feels great to know I’m capable of doing this with more than one. This artist also wants to release a 4-5 song EP but begin with one song to see how it turns out. wanted to share some success stories from the past few months that have recently really kickstarted my producer career with the help of dark label! Just closed on an ethnic hip hop project for a formerly signed artist out in Brazil. The goal of the project is to create the next single he's performing at a festival in Brasília. This'll give not only him but me a lot of exposure to a slew of other artists out there. 🇧🇷
